This year, Voices, Inc. is introducing a new summer training program! Voices Freelance Program is a six-week journalism training sessions for young adults from ages 14-21, preparing youth to create their own stories and work on their own terms!

My name is Ruwaida Alansary, but people call me Roxy. I was born in Saudi Arabia in 1988 and my parents divorced in 1995. My father remarried in 1996 and moved my stepmother and me to the United States in January 2001 in search of education and a chance at a relationship with our ailing grandmother.

VOICES is pleased to invite the parents and guardians of the 110¬? Magazine youth staff to a Parent-Guardian dinner on Thursday, December 13, 2007, at 6 p.m at our main offices located at 48 E. Pennington. Youth staff members may bring parents, guardians, or persons serving as their mentors.

VOICES is joining other youth-focused organizations in Tucson to present “Home is Where the Art Is,” a free event to raise awareness for National Runaway Prevention Month.

All youth are invited to attend this month’s DAMN featuring Walkout, a 2006 TV movie based on the 1968 Mexican-American student walkouts that took place in East Los Angeles. The movie starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 8, at VOICES (located in downtown Tucson at 48 E. Pennington Street). Arrive early to get a good spot on the couch and first dibs on snacks.

This construction is a joint venture renovation project of VOICES and City High School to improve the building we share at 48 E. Pennington Street in downtown Tucson, Arizona so we can serve more local youth in school and after school.

110 Degrees: Issue 7 is now available to read online at the Arizona Daily Star. Published June 1, VOICES latest issue was included as an insert to the Star’s Friday edition and includes the work of over twenty youth.
