Get Involved

VOICES is currently recruiting volunteers! Spring 2010 programs run Monday-Thursday, 4-6:15 pm from February 1-April 29, 2010. This spring we are offering three separate documentary arts programs: radio, magazine writing and photography, and video.

Although there are many ways to get involved, most volunteers enjoy working one-on-one with the youth as they prepare their stories for publication. We ask that volunteers who work directly with youth on their stories have professional experience in either writing or photography and can commit to two hours per week of mentoring. We also ask that volunteers attend several trainings, which provide important professional development on topics such as radio editing, journalism ethics, portraiture, mentoring, and the craft of writing.

In addition to working with youth on their stories, VOICES also needs volunteers in a variety of other areas, including teaching workshops and providing general office support.
