VOICES is pleased to invite the parents and guardians of the 110º Magazine youth staff to a Parent-Guardian dinner on Thursday, December 13, 2007, at 6 p.m at our main offices located at 48 E. Pennington. Youth staff members may bring parents, guardians, or persons serving as their mentors.

All youth are invited to attend this month’s DAMN featuring Walkout, a 2006 TV movie based on the 1968 Mexican-American student walkouts that took place in East Los Angeles. The movie starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 8, at VOICES (located in downtown Tucson at 48 E. Pennington Street). Arrive early to get a good spot on the couch and first dibs on snacks.

110 Degrees: Issue 7 is now available to read online at the Arizona Daily Star. Published June 1, VOICES latest issue was included as an insert to the Star’s Friday edition and includes the work of over twenty youth.

We will be recognizing the youth contributors to the magazine at the Pima Community College Center for the Arts Proscenium Theatre from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.

This past October and November 2006, VOICES was recognized with four major awards: the Pima County Outstanding Out-of-School-Time Award; the Arizona Newspapers Association’s Community Service top prize; the first annual “Model Organization” award and the first annual“Youth Voice Activist” award (for Executive Director, Regina Kelly) from the Every Voice in Action Foundation.
