Projects

This fall, VOICES is excited to offer three separate documentary arts programs: radio, photography, and features (which integrates writing and photography). Programs run Monday – Thursday from 4-6:15 pm, beginning September 14 and ending December 18, 2009.

Youth staff in each of these programs are paid minimum wage for their time spent in training, and are then paid an additional $50 honorarium when their stories are published. VOICES youth staff publish with the Arizona Daily Star, the Tucson Weekly, the Downtown Tucsonan, Inside Tucson Business, 91.3 FM KXCI(Tucson’s Community Radio), 89.1 FM KUAZ (Arizona Public Media), and on our own website and in our annual magazine, 110º: Tucson’s Youth Tell Tucson’s Stories.

All Tucson youth, ages 14-21, are eligible to apply for VOICES programs. For more information, or to pick up an application and interview, stop by our downtown office at 48 E. Pennington Street. Interviews run Monday through Friday, 3-5pm, from August 24 until September 4, 2009.
