A lot of people are wondering if Yousician is helpful.
I’m going to try and give you the best answer to this question and help you progress towards your music goals.
The short answer is YES, but there are a few things to consider.
The Main Benefits of Apps like Yousician
Music learning apps have a huge selling point: They’re convenient and fun.
Many people want to just have fun when they’re playing the guitar or piano. They don’t want to learn any music theory, and just want to learn music in a “game” type of atmosphere.
If this is you, then yes you’ll find Yousician helpful and fun. You can read my full review here for more information.
If you have some experience with other game types of learning devices like RockSmith for the guitar, you’ll like Yousician. It’s an app designed to help you progress through lessons and challenges.
It’s helpful because it’s fun and easy. The interface is very user friendly and it will definitely help you progress on the guitar or piano.
But is it the best device for actually learning and mastering the guitar or piano?..
My results with Yousician and Similar Apps
I personally found myself mastering an app, as opposed to mastering an instrument.
I had a great time and really enjoyed the fun aspect of using Yousician, however when I didn’t have the program in front of me, and couldn’t follow the white ball on the screen, and I felt a bit lost.
So for me, transitioning away from the app (playing without it) was difficult. I became to reliant on the app, instead of really learning how to play.
In my opinion, there are two better options for the guitar and piano. They are Guitar Tricks and Playground Sessions for the piano.
Again this is just my opinion, and others may agree or disagree. But I truly felt I learned more, and improve my musical talents when I opted in for using real online video lesson programs like Guitar Tricks and Playground Sessions.
These have that “in-person” lesson aspect to them, while also the fun aspect as well. For me they were just more of an overall full learning resource, as opposed to a fun app.
Bottom line, Yousician is helpful, but remember to ask yourself what your goals are, and how do you learn the best.
If you would rather learn the guitar or piano from real in-person video lessons, then consider trying Guitar Tricks for free and see how you go.
If you’re considering Yousician for the piano, first consider reading up on the software from Playground Sessions.
In my opinion, both are better options for learning these instruments.
