electronic drum reviews

After discussing this topic with a lot of drummers, there are a few reasons why I think you might be looking for the top electronic drum sets.

You’re either a beginner drummer (or you’re shopping for one), or you’re looking for an alternative to acoustic drums. Here are the quick benefits with these drum kits:

  • Volume control
  • Portable (compared to acoustic drums)
  • Less expensive
  • Play along and practice abilities (MIDI)
  • Great feel and sound

You might be here for a different reason, maybe you're trying to get back into playing the drums, however I found these two categories to be the main ones (beginner / alternative to acoustic).

Below I have a recommendation which is great for beginners based on quality and price, but also a top recommendation for more advanced drummers.

Instead of listing 25 drum sets and kits for you do go and do more research on, I've only listed two here. I've done all the research for you, and found these options to be the best.

#1 Digitial Drum Set for Beginners

If you're a beginner, or you're shopping for one, going with an electronic drum set is a great decision. It's less expensive, less noisy, and there are more built in ways to practice when compared to acoustic sets.

For these reasons, and based on consumer reviews, I would recommend the Alesis DM6 Drum Set.

You won't find a better kit for the money. You can usually find it on sale at Amazon.

Here's a quick overview video. Below are two links for you to find more specific information on the specs and other customer reviews:

Top Pick for Intermediate to Advanced Drummers

With almost every single type of instrument, you will get what you pay for. This is especially true when discussing some of the better brands.

One of the top electronic drum set brands is Roland. If you're not a pure beginner, I would recommend you learn more about the Roland TD 11KV drum set.

Based on reviews from professional musicians and music teachers, this is one of the best models out there. It's not the newest model, which means it's priced really well right now, and has everything you'll need out of one of these instruments.

Conclusion

The truth is, there are dozens of sets and kits to choose from.

Sorting through all the different brands and models can be a daunting task. Fortunately I've personally done all this research for you, and I've come up with these recommendations.

I've consulted real drummers, analyzed all the major drumming websites and recommendations, and read through tons of customer reviews.
